![]() ![]() It is possible to update your navigation system by downloading new maps from your car’s manufacturer for example, you can use an SD card, USB drive, or DVD to do so. After plugging the USB drive back into the USB port in your vehicle, you can start the vehicle with it. This process is usually completed in between 20-30 minutes, depending on your internet connection. It is a good idea to keep your maps up to date on your flash drive. To begin, you must first visit Honda’s navigation update website, hondanavi.navigation. You will need access to your PC or laptop computer, internet access, and an empty USB flash drive that has at least 16GB of storage available to make this happen. This procedure is only available to Honda vehicles that are currently equipped with Garmin-based navigation systems. The process may take several minutes to complete, and the Honda Civic’s GPS unit will need to be restarted once the update is finished. After the code has been entered, the GPS system will begin updating itself with the new data. This code will be found on the update disc’s packaging. Once the update disc has been inserted into the Civic’s GPS unit, the system will prompt the user to enter a four-digit code. The update disc will contain the latest GPS data, which will be used to update the system. To update the GPS system in a Honda Civic, the owner will need to purchase a GPS update disc from a Honda dealer or an authorized retailer. The GPS system can be used for navigation, traffic updates, and locating emergency services. and free the phone up for something else while the Honda maps display nicely on the car.Honda Civics are equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) that uses satellite technology to determine the vehicle’s precise location. I get it a lot of people use their phone but sometimes it’s nice not to have to worry about cell coverage, data, etc. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me! Then I wonder how they can put on the brand new models because they are typically with a newer update (I’ve seen it at the dealers on the new models), so how did they get it on those but nobody else does? Honda needs to invest more R&D in the maps if they want people to buy the built in systems. It is immensely frustrating esp when you have a HondaLink subscription which is expiring and despite an entitlement to the update, they haven’t even released one update all year. ![]() The in car systems even keep prompting me it’s overdue for an update. What a runaround! It’s pretty ridiculous that you can go buy a $150 Garmin Nuvi gps with more up to date maps than the built in Honda navigation system that lags behind. I called Garmin who said the delay is on Hondas side because they released the 2024.10 update quite a while ago for the portable devices but Honda does their own thing (not sure what they’re review and approval consists of) and then Honda told me they’re not delaying it and to call Garmin. It’s now October 2023 and they have yet to release a map update for this year! My 18 Accord and 19 Odyssey are still running last year’s 2023 update (they’re always dated a year ahead). It seems that the Honda Navigation Garmin updates are getting less frequent and slower than ever to be released. ![]() Very frustrating! Anyone have any insight / knowledge of what’s going on here? and free the phone up for something else while the Honda maps display nicely on the car. ![]() ![]()
